There's no talking about it: Grilling is great! But you should also think about cleaning and caring for your grill even with a quality product like Napoleon®, it still needs a little love and attention to ensure it stays in good condition.

Cleaning the outside: The formation of surface rust on stainless steel is considered normal, but can in turn lead to more severe attacks and turn into grave rust that attacks the material's structure. To avoid this mishap, you should therefore maintain your stainless steel material to get as long a life as possible. The impact on the environment is great and in areas where the grill is adjacent to the sea, swimming pool or pesticides/fertilizers, the need for maintenance is greater than in areas without.

Here's how to maintain your grill: Wipe off grease and the like with a damp cloth with lukewarm water and a little mild detergent. In case of surface rust, use e.g. Autosol to remove this, but be careful with the rubbing and always dry in the same direction as the brushing of the steel. First test on a small area on e.g. the back of the side shelves to ensure that no scratches are visible from the agent. Wipe clean and then spray on a layer of agents such as: 5-56, WD-40 or Würth stainless steel care on external surfaces that do not come into contact with the cooking. Spread the agent and wipe with a soft cloth.

Cleaning the inside: To clean the inside of the grill, first remove the grill grates and the drip guards. Then remove the fixing screws for the burners and lift them out. Carefully scrape and brush away food residues and burnt residues from the drip guards and the grill tray with, for example, a dish brush onto the bottom plate. Then empty the drip tray and brush and scrape it out. If necessary, the grill bowl can then be wiped with a damp cloth with lukewarm water and a little mild detergent and then brushed on with a thin layer of neutral cooking oil.

Cleaning burners: The burners are cleaned most easily with Napoleon's Venturi pipe cleaner. The holes of the burners are cleaned by hand with the maintenance kit that comes with the grill (not included in our portable gas grills TQ series) to remove any blockages.

Cleaning stainless grill grates: Before you start grilling next time, heat up the grill at full power for about 10-15 minutes. Then brush the grill grates with a stainless steel or brass brush. In case of heavy soiling, it is recommended to use Napoleon's Grid Scraper.

Cleaning cast iron grill grates: Cast iron grill grates are cleaned in the same way as stainless steel grill grates. However, these may need to be lubricated with a neutral cooking oil.
